A simple and clean wordpress theme for everyone

There are so many WordPress themes available to download for everyone, but I believe that most of them are not very useful. Especially for people who tend to drive a blog which should look professional. Sometimes I see plenty of blogs running on very common themes (because they look good), may be just because the choice costs.
I thought I would make a simple, clean and easily accessible WordPress theme which should be available to everyone. I thought it should make some sense in terms of design, usability and accessibility. And finally it is ready, so feel free to download and check that yourself. You can preview the theme here, an you might also be interested to read some of its related points below:
- Easily readable dark on light and light on dark colors

- Fixed width, two columns layout
- Valid XHTML 1.0 Strict coding and styled with valid CSS
- Customizable header image, just replace the ‘header-bg.jpg’ image to have your own. Logo and top navigation area will still remain same.

- Special visual appearance for tags like blockquote, abbr and code etc.

You are free to use this theme for any personal or business purpose, in return I would request you to post a link back to www.inspiredbuddy.com, or just drop an e-mail to me at – rajveer [at] inspiredbuddy [dot] com just to let me know.

Love the clean and simple layout …… hmmmm I am thinking over to switch my existing theme with this one ….
One suggestion: why don’t you give it a name like. The Buddy Theme …
Rajveer September 11th, 2008 at 12:43 pm
Thanks Sandy!
Yeh, I guess it should look better than your current theme and moreover this should look unique until next couple of months or so, to become stale like rest of common WordPress themes
“The Buddy Theme”, that’s a nice suggestion but actually I have already named it “Dodo”, I know you would do some Googling to know what that means. I shall consider your advice for future work.

I think this is a superb theme for WP and I will start using this.
A small suggestion if you are able to make the header image changable or uploadable, and give an option to make the yellow background to the blog title either clear or opaque as it is now.
This would make this theme very customisable, and make each blog look different.

Thanks for the kind words Mandip
That is a good suggestion, I might update this article soon.

I have managed to create my affiliate site using this theme and my own header – see http://www.automobile-depot-online.com – I think it works well, and it was easy enough to use and customise the theme – any comments appreciated. I will add a linkback to your site.

Hello,
I am wondering how I might insert all content (header, content, sidebar, footer) into one big white box. I’ve changed the bg color, but all the content isn’t contained together when you scroll down. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Aimee – Looking at the provided link it seems you already have done a lot of change to achieve that. Excepting for that patch on the top, and just above the footer, which you might also want let it merge with the white background. Please change the classes in your style.css, if that is the case.
#skip {
background:#FFF;
border-bottom:0 solid #000000;
list-style-image:none;
list-style-position:outside;
list-style-type:none;
margin:0;
padding:0 0.5em;
}
#container {
margin-bottom:none;
width:100%;
background:#FFF;
}
I hope this helps you. Please communicate via e-mails for further queries.
Happy Holidays

hello Rajeev,
I too am using your theme for 2 of my own blogs. I liked it a lot. Thank you very much.
I have linked to your site.
I wanted to customize my blog a bit.. minimal infact.
1. Change the header.. but the images I put there dont seem to match with the entire theme of the blog. Could you pls give me a good reference to how anyone has changes the header of your theme to good effect?
2. Include a banner as you find in the gear theme (http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/gear)
Thank you,
Prem

Hello Rajeev,
I have been testing your theme. (I compared it with several other themes). I think I love the white spaces in your theme. I would like a simple personal blog and this theme is just right.
However, I have an issue. In IE 6, the posts do not appear right. The first few words (left portion) seems to be chopped off for a few posts. I didnt notice such behaviour in my home PC (Firefox 3)
Would you have any suggestions?
Also, is there any way to increase the no of recent posts in the footer? Or can I change it to something else like Most popular posts?
Sorry if I am bothering you too much.
Just another thing: Do you help create professional websites? My cousin wanted to create a professional site. I am thinking of referring you to him.. we can discuss on email.
Regards,
Prem

Hi Rajveer, loving the Dodo style. It’s exactly what I had in mind when I was looking for a theme. My only small problem is the yellow box carrying the blog title and description. I was wondering which bit of code I can delete in order for that to disapear. I’ve been trying my best to look through the style sheet but to no avail.
Your response would be gratefully recieved,
Adam

Hi Rajveer
Love the theme, just wanted to know how I change the background color.
I want the content area to stay white but I want the outside area to be a different color.
Thanks

Hi,
I’ve chosen this theme for my blog and i find it very clean and nice. Thank you very much.
However, i’ve met a problem with this theme.
When i write an article, instead of my name, it’s written : %A%e%B%Y
I’ve asked some help from the french support of Wordpress and they’ve told me that it might be linked to the theme which would not have evolved with wordpress.
Do you have any clue?
Tkank you very much and best regards,
Stéphanie

I’ve been searching for theme like this, a nice fast loading theme. I want to erase the sidebar and make it a one column theme, could you help me with that?
Thanks for the great theme.
