The glorious days of an enchanting civilization, India is celebrating the 60th republic day. Early morning I was hearing the noises of celebration coming from a public school which is very close to my residence. I couldn’t stop myself to get out and take a glance of the ceremony. It was awesome to see the children performing on stage one after one in groups. For a moment I jumped into the flashback when I also used to participate on this day. If I appraise I can see we still carry the same passion, we are still taught for the peace and prosperity, also that the inherent strength of Republic of India is unity in diversity.

India is developing as one of the fastest growing nation; it has emerged as a preferred global business destination. On other side the Indian youth is coming out the big time when there is a need to stand against the corruption or put a demand for positive change in system. So I can say I feel no fear when I think about the future of India. But there is one thing that worries me most – “Environmental Concerns”, it is the biggest challenge for the whole world. I believe India is far away in fighting with this challenge as compare to other nations. It is due to the awareness that most people still don’t take it seriously.

Here I quote why it should worry everyone:

The planet earth is heating up very fast. Ice is melting, sea levels are rising, cloud forests are drying, and wildlife is scrambling to survive. It is clear that we humans have caused most of the harm by powering our modern lives.

Every human can bring an important help by adopting a more responsible lifestyle. As an individual I don’t need to wait for anyone to find a solution for this problem. In fact there isn’t any except we start from little by applying on everyday things. It is the one and only reasonable way to secure ourselves, before it gets too late. My intend to write this article is to bring awareness so that many more people can do the same. Below is the list of simple things that I always try to follow in order to help the environment and myself.

  • Say no to plastic bags – Switch to reusable shopping bags. If you do end up using plastic bags now and then, be sure to recycle them. Read how are plastic bags harmful to the environment.
  • Don’t waste energy – Practice for the best way of doing all your routine things using the least water. Like: Using the washing machine only when it is full. Do not leave your appliances on standby or on, Switch off the machines when you are not using them, also don’t leave them on standby mode.
  • Travel Smartly – Improve vehicle fuel efficiency. Carpool or travel by public transport. It makes a huge difference and reduces carbon dioxide emissions. Turn off your engine when your vehicle is motionless for more than one minute.
  • Keep the city clean – Treat the city as your own home when it comes to cleanness.

I just tried to highlight only a few things in a very brief way. You can read much more on internet to keep the environment safe and clean, like this one.

Jai Hind!
